Jan 2000     Named inaugural Allan Border Medallist as Australian Cricketer of the Year – awarded to the player who receives the

most votes from a voting academy of players, umpires and media. Glenn received the most player votes and the most

umpire/media votes – 97 in total to win from Steve Waugh with 87 and Ricky Ponting with 77.

Also named as Test Player of the Year, with 14 votes, from Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh on 12 votes.

Jul 2000      Named International Cricketer of the Year 2000 – nominees are players whose consistently excellent performances

have led to high placing in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Cricket Ratings for Test and One-Day International Cricket

over the last year.

Jul 2000      Playing for Worcestershire in English county cricket, scored maiden first-class half century with 55 vs Nottinghamshire.

Sep 2000    Finished English season playing with Worcestershire as the leading first class wicket-taker – 80 wickets at 13.21, with

the best average and strike rate of bowlers with over 40 wickets. In Sunday League, took 30 wickets at 8.13 – third

highest wicket-taker and best average and best economy rate of all bowlers. Named Bowler of the Year.

1999 to April 2000.

Oct 2007    Named joint winner with Shane Warne of the Sports Australia Hall of Fame Don Award for 2007 – for a current

Australian athlete who, by their achievements and example over the last 12 months, are considered to have had the

capacity to most inspire the nation.

Jan 2008     Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to cricket as a player and to the community through the

establishment of the McGrath Foundation.

Feb 2008    Caringbah Oval renamed Glenn McGrath Oval.

 

Sep 2008    Elected a Life Member of NSW Cricket Association.

Nov 2009   Inducted into NSW Sports Hall of Champions.

Dec 2009    Awarded honorary life membership of MCC.

Apr 2011    Inducted into Cricket NSW Hall of Fame.

Nov 2011   Inducted into Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

Jan 2013    Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame.

Feb 2013   Inducted into Cricket Australia Hall of Fame.

Mar 2015   Selected in Sutherland’s Best Team of the Club’s First 50 Years.

Jul 2018      Elected a Life Member of Sutherland DCC.

Dec 2023    Inducted as a Life Member of the SCG Trust.

June 2024  Appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to community health through breast

cancer support, and to cricket as an international coach.
