Burton and Awati Appointed to Spearhead Sydney Cricket Club’s Future
Sydney Cricket Club | July 01, 2025
We’re proud to announce the appointment of two key leadership positions that will shape the future of cricket development at the club and within the broader community.
Richard Burton has been appointed as Director of Cricket, responsible for developing, leading and overseeing the club’s Premier Cricket programs, fostering a culture that delivers upon the club’s vision of leading the men’s and women’s club championships and premierships, the creation of a high performing environment to accelerate player pathway development and the mentoring of coaches and leaders within the club.
Rohan Awati has been appointed as Head Coach – Youth Development, a new role created to focus on identifying and nurturing young local talent within the men’s program and delivering success within the Green Shield and Poidevin-Gray competitions.
Rod Chapman SCG Chair, welcomed the appointments. “These two leadership roles are critical to executing our long-term strategy of building a strong pipeline of local and successful talented Tigers,” he said.
“We have seen the success of the women’s program with a strong pathway of local talented players, and with Richard and Rohan on board, we are confident in our ability to provide a clear and structured high-performance pathway for all players at every stage – from representative cricket all the way to national honours.
“These appointments reinforce the club’s commitment to performance, community and opportunity – and signal an exciting new chapter for cricket in the Inner West.”
