During the West Indies tour of Australia in 1975-76, arrangements were made for Andy Roberts to return the following season to play Sheffield Shield for NSW and 1st Grade for Sutherland. Andy made his 1st Grade debut on 9 October 1976 against Manly Warringah at Caringbah Oval. Unfortunately rain intervened and, after a late start, only 13 minutes of play was possible before play was washed out, with Sutherland bowling only two overs. Andy bowled a maiden! There was no play on day two due to rain.
