Last I heard, County cricket and Test cricket in England use different types of Dukes Cricket balls. Do you think this will give the Australians who play County cricket prior to the Test series the best preparation?

I’d really like to know why in short form cricket and in particular T20, is the yorker not perfected and used more by bowlers, as it is widely acknowledged as the most effective delivery in the game?

My son is 14 and I want to help him play the pull and hook shots the right way. Is it better to teach him to play the shots with his hands coming up under the ball or try and get his hands up higher and over the ball so he has a better chance to hit the ball along the ground?

In a game on the weekend the batsman went to play a cut shot off our spinner and their bat hit the wickets keepers’ glove on two occasions. He hit the ball but for no runs. The keeper impacted the shot so should it be a no ball, dead ball or just part of the game?

I am captain of Eckington CC who play in the ECB Derbyshire Premier League in the United Kingdon.

The league itself is an extremely high standard with current and ex first class cricketers playing most weeks players such as Samit Patel, Wayne Masden and Tom Wood regularly play for their respective teams.

We are currently seeking an overseas cricketer that is UK born to join us in the summer and compete in our first team in the Premier League.

We will put a healthy package in place providing flights, accommodation, help with certain expense and coaching work through the summer potential to ear man £20 per hour for the right player. I also have contacts at the county cricket club where 2nd team county cricket/ trials can be arranged.

My kids love heading to the nets in school holidays but often don’t have any adults with them to direct what they’re working on.
Does anyone have any advice on what drills they could do at the nets to keep them interested and engaged whilst also improving their skills?
Batting, bowling and catching all need help!

Rule changes.
1. I have never understood the rule for LBW where the ball must hit the bat in line with the off stump. In most instances we see these days with the DRS the ball is hitting somewhere between middle or clipping leg and hitting off rarely happens due to the angles involved. Surely if the bowler has done enough to beat the bat and the ball is hitting the stumps then it’s out. Pitching outside leg is still not out
2. In T20 get rid of the maximum number of overs and have a simple rule stating five bowlers must bowl. End of story and would make the final overs potentially a lot more exciting where runs must be made against the best bowlers and makes captain decisions and strategy more important . Same for 50 over games where fifth bowler only has to bowl four minimum and no maximum
3. Allow outfield catches where the starting position of the fielder is inside the boundary. We should be encouraging the spectacular catches we are now seeing that finish outside the boundary.

The Essendon CC here in Melbourne is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this season culminating in a very special dinner at the MCG on the 4th February.We are endeavouring to track down any immediate family members of surviving relatives of George Arthur Davies who played 217 matches for the Club between 1917/18 - 1936/37 and also played 5 matches for Victoria . He was later Manager of the Australian Team that toured England in 1953.
If anyone can assist with the above it would be appreciated if you could contact me.

I’m on the committee of our cricket club and we find it difficult to get everyone involved. It always feels as though it’s the same two or three people doing the work to make sure the club functions. We’d like to get some advice or ideas on how other clubs structure their committees and share the workload?
