ON THIS DAY 18th September
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | September 14, 2025
In 1971, on a diabolical early season Harris Park wicket, TOM COOKE (#197) 7-13, shredded the impossibly strong Ex Services batting line up in the all new one day format, for just 75. His victims included Ray Blair, Errol Browning, Ray Rose, Rene Mullen, Gordon Patterson and a very young Peter Wayte.
Unfortunately, Waratahs had already batted, making only 42, the old firm of Ian McLean, Mullen and Browning reducing them to 6-15. Bill Thompson, Terry Betts, Graham Johnson and Cooke all making ducks as McLean took a hat trick, before Brian Joice smashed a couple of sixes.
