Matt Lewis: BWCUCC New Recruit

Matt Lewis joined Burnside West Christchurch University CC in the over the winter from Old Boys Collegians. Matt sports a swimmer's build, bowls like the wind and hits it miles. These three facets have played a part in the 21-year-old's inclusion in the Canterbury 'A' setup, where the Christ's College old boy is chasing higher honours.

We sat down with Matt and asked how he was settling in to life on Avonhead Road.

What’s brought you to BWCUCC, where are you from and what does your cricket journey look like so far?

I'm from Christchurch, I grew up playing for Halswell Junior Cricket Club and Christs College. I spent a season playing cricket in Darwin for Southern Districts cricket club and played two seasons with Old Boys Collegians before coming to Burnside. I felt that burnside would be the best club for me to work towards playing at a higher level.

How have you found settling into the club environment so far?

So far settling in has been easy and and enjoyable. The environment has been welcoming both on and off the field.

What has stood out to you about how the club/ team operates?

One thing that has stood out to me about how the club operates is the willingness shown by all the boys to buy into team values.

What do you hope to achieve this season?

I hope to establish a clear role in the premier side and contribute towards winning campaigns in all three formats.
