After starting the season in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 with a first round win against the defending T20 champions, Randwick Petersham, St George quickly came back to earth in Saturday’s morning fixture. Peter Ferguson, Western Suburbs Player #423, passed away on Saturday, September 28th, at the same time that Wests were hosting a T20 double header at Peter’s beloved Pratten Park.

Ferguson made his debut in the Firsts on December 3, 1967, at the age of seventeen. He may have made the Firsts earlier, but the club deliberately didn't want to rush his promotion.

The exciting young left arm wrist spinner, could sharply turn his leggies and he complimented this talent as a lively all round cricketer . At age 11, Peter played his first games in Wests Under 16’s. In 1964-65 he took 123 wickets for the club; 43 in the Saturday Under 16’s competition, 18 in the A.W. Green Shield, two in Poidevin-Gray and 60 in Fourth Grade.

In late March 2022 Richard Holdsworth approached the Club enquiring whether we could host Cricket Ireland again in the lead up to the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Unlike 2015 this only provided 6 months to plan their 10 day stay. John Stewart immediately enlisted a committee to plan every minute detail to engage sponsors, organise accommodation and transport, ground preparation, advertising, catering, match days, opposition, and catering. Randwick Petersham’s gratitude is extended to Mike Whitney, Jeremy Jastrzab, Peter Devlin, Roy Robinson, Jo Robinson, Damian Sidney, Tom Holland, Chris Sullivan, Dale Hackney and E-Young Khoo, Jay Patel, Jaya Murdita, and Nick Saady assisting all the way from New York for their wonderful dedication to pull off this mammoth and successful undertaking in such a limited timeframe.
