Rod Tucker made his first class debut and played one game for NSW in 1986/87 before moving to Tasmania in 1988 and establishing himself as a fine all-round first class cricketer.

All up Rod played 103 first class games scoring 5,076 runs at an average of 36.25 including 7 centuries and 28 half centuries. With the ball he took 123 wickets at an average of 41.80.

In Western Suburbs District Cricket Club tribute to Alan Wyatt (first grade player number 369), who passed away at the age of 89 on 11th July 2024, we made mention of Alan’s valuable contribution to NSW winning the Sheffield Shield in 1956-57.

NSW v Victoria in 1956-57 was one of the great games of cricket in Australian first-class cricket history and Western Suburbs Alan Wyatt and Alan Davidson made significant contributions.

Josh Muddle has been playing cricket since 2008. Josh is a kind soul who has contributed to Belmont Cricket Club both on and off the field.

I first started playing in 2008 for Valentine Eleebana CC where I played juniors, before making my senior debut in city and suburban cricket. In my last season of junior cricket, I made the move to Belmont where I made my grade debut and have been playing here ever since.

Mark Russell has a life time association with the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club.

He was as proud as punch to be graded in Western Suburbs and rose through the ranks from fifth grade to second grade.

In 252 games for his beloved Magpies Mark scored 4,065 runs including one century and 18 half centuries. As a wicket keeper he took 279 dismissals including 241 catches and 38 stumpings

Tom Kierath began his grade cricket career with Sydney University Cricket Club in 1999 and at the time of publication he proudly sits 6th on the list of all-time leading wickets takers for the club.

He took 503 wickets across the grades at a very impressive average of 20.89 and scored 5,570 runs at 23.80 with a highest score of 123.

Manly Warringah District Cricket club – First Grade team 1905-06

After our addition to 1st grade in 1905/06, the 2023/24 season was the club’s best ever finish in 1st grade after 3 seasons of gradual improvement.
The season was off to a great start with the inclusion of Australian all-rounder Jack Gregory, however he was only able to play 2 games due to a knee injury.

Gordon won the 1st Grade competition.

Will Zakostelsky is a promising and talented bowling all-rounder who captained the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club AW Green Shield side to a quarterfinal and made his way up the ranks into 3rd grade.

Over the season, Will took 30 wickets at 18.3 and scored 354 runs, top scoring with 87 in fifth grade against UNSW.

Kerry Penfold was a talented left hand opening batsman who made his first grade debut for Campbelltown in 1990

Kerry did much more than just occupy the crease. He ended up scoring seven first grade hundreds, one against the great Glenn McGrath on a greenish wicket. His ability to pick up the length and play all around the ground was amazing. Also, his attitude was outstanding, never letting his handicap impede his belief or ability.

Nick Fry has had a decorated cricket career in winning numerous premierships with the team he’s played for.

A state representative in under age cricket in the early 80s and he played District Cricket for Richmond Cricket Club for 7 years. A product of St Kevin’s College at school and their Old Collegians team before migrating south to play with Carrum Cricket Club.

He’s been a player, captain, coach, and administrator and has made a terrific contribution to the game over many years.

In early 2006, The Committee of Western Suburbs invited a group of former players and administrators to advise the Cricket Committee of the greatest players to represent the Club in the period from 1895 to 2000. Alan Davidson, Stan Sismey, Tom Brown and Bernie O'Neil sorted through the Club's records and player performances and produced their list of the Club's finest players.

The Committee then applied the criterion that each player, to be eligible for the "Team of the Millennium". must have been available to play for Western Suburbs for five full seasons. The Committee took into account lavers' performances not only for Western Suburbs, but also at higher levels of the game.
